China's Game Console Ban Has Been Lifted
Since 2000, China has had a ban on the sale of games consoles nationwide. While it was possible to get hands on a console, especially in Shanghai, the ban stifled companies like Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo from selling their consoles across the enitre country.
According to The Wall Street Journal (via GameSpot), that ban has now been lifted and the selling of consoles without restrictions is now going to be common practice. This has obviously just opened up a huge market for these big corporations, as potentially hundreds of millions of new players have just become accessable.
This is great news, not just on a personal liberty standpoint, but also for the business. The games industry just found a huge influx of money, and that usually points to better products. Heres hoping that Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo really make use of this new capital to give us all better games.
