Save Our Libraries Day In The UK

Alan Moore will be reading at St James Library in Northampton.

Philip Pullman will be reading at Oxford Central Library.

Billy Bragg will be bringing his guitar to Charmouth Library in Dorset.

Julia Golding is reading in Botley Library.

Jane Ray is reading in Wood Green Library.

Carole Matthews is reading in Stony Stratford Library.

Mark Haddon and Jane Bingham will be reading in Blackbird Leys Library.

Phil Jupitus is working as librarian at St Aubyn Library in Plymouth.

John Dougherty will be rushing through as many libraries in Cloucestershire as he can.

They'll be cosplaying in Leeds City Library and flashmobreading in Cambridge Central Library.

All over the country, with 350 libraries suffering closure under public spending cuts.

More than 350 libraries are understood to be under threat of closure, and today is the day when they complain about it.

British libraries in recent years have rapidly increased the amounts of comics and graphic novels they stock, most having a devoted section. And in a time of austerity, I know many who have switched from tradewaiters to librarywaiters instead. And many publishers who depend on a large library order to fund a larger print run.

The main events start at noon in most places. Do pop along and report back in the comments.
