Six years after a pilot based on Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez's Locke & Key failed to find a network ready to give the series a home, IDW Entertainment has announced (via Deadline) it will develop the project again with Hill on board to write the pilot and serve as an executive producer. IDW's Ted Adams and David Ozer will also serve as executive produce with David Alpert and Rick Jacobs from Circle of Confusion.
The comic series centered on the Locke family, who move from San Fransisco to Lovecraft, Massachusetts following a family tragedy. There, the three Locke children discover the house comes along with a number of mystical keys that offer different abilities when used in conjunction with the right lock. While trying to rebuild their lives, they also try to uncover the family secret hidden among the keys.
Locke & Key was previously the basis for a 2010 Fox pilot starring Miranda Otto, Sarah Bolger and Nick Stahl. It screened at the 2011 Comic-Con, but was not picked up by the network.
