The Evolution Of Batgirl

Fifty years ago, DC comics showed us the first Batwoman in the form of Kathy Kane. forty-five years ago we got the first Batgirl, but this was Betty Kane. And then in 1966, forty years ago, we got our first look at Barbara Gordon in the now famous costume. The folks at Fun.com have put together an infographic going through all the costume iterations of Batwoman / Batgirl over the years including the time as Oracle, the live-action appearances and even when the costume and title went to some new folks.

Now I don't know about combing Batwoman and Batgirl onto one sheet… but it is very interesting to see just how much Batgirl's costume has changed in 45 years. I'm still partial to either the original Barbara Gordon look with the yellow boots and gloves or the 1966 television version worn by Yvonne Craig. On the other end of the spectrum would be the Alicia Silverstone costume from Batman and Robin… that just wasn't good.
