Former President Of Sega Thomas Kalinske Hospitalized After Stroke

If you're an old-school Sega fan, you're probably familiar with Thomas Kalinske. Kalinske was a former CEO at Mattel before being recruited to Sega as their CEO during their most popular years from 1990-1996, overseeing the rise of the Sega Genesis during the '90s console wars. (Currently, he serves as the Executive Chairman of Global Education Learning.) News broke this week, first from the official Sega Twitter feed and then through Kalinske's own Twitter that the 73-year-old executive suffered a stroke, losing some of the abilities on the left side of his body, and will remain hospitalized for at least the next week and a half, possibly more.

Strokes are no laughing matter as many people never fully recover from them and there are usually lasting effects on the person's body for years to come. It's cool to see after all these years, Sega still holds the man in high regard and kept fans updated on his condition. We here at Bleeding Cool with Kalinske well as he recoups in the hospital and a speedy recovery.
