TMNT's Michaelangelo Visits Michelangelo Exhibit at Metropolitan Museum of Art

A major celebrity visited New York City's Metropolitan Museum of Art today, and The Met was quick to capitalize on it on Twitter. That's right, that's Michaelangelo, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle, checking out the art of his namesake, Italian Renaissance artist Michelangelo, widely known as the Rob Liefeld of his day.

Each of the turtles is named after a famous Renaissance artist, the others being Leonardo, Donatello, and Rafael. Of course, Michaelangelo's name was spelled incorrectly at first and wasn't officially corrected until 2001 to actually match the artist's name. We're still calling him Michaelangelo anyway, though, because we're fans of tradition.

And so is Michaelangelo, it seems, as he can be seen admiring the art of his namesake in photos posted by The Met's Twitter account. Michaelangelo is known for being a party dude, and there's no better way to party than by appreciating classic art. The Met is likely hoping to attract a hip young audience to check out their exhibits, which is a smart move. That is, until the Foot Clan attacks and all of the classic artwork gets shredded in a ninja battle.
