'WrestleMania 35': Joan Jett Set to Perform "Bad Reputation" Live, Ronda Rousey Responds

Rock icon Joan Jett is no stranger to large crowds, but come April 7th she'll be stepping out into WWE's "Grandest Stage of Them All" WrestleMania 35 to perform one of her signature songs "Bad Reputation" live to honor Ronda Rousey's title defense at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.

Rousey adopted Jett's hit song from her debut album in 1980 of the same name during her UFC run in 2013, carrying it over carried to WWE in 2018 as she transitioned from the Octagon to the Squared Circle.

Currently holding the title belt as WWE Raw Women's Champion, Rousey faces off against WWE SmackDown Women's Champion Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch at the annual professional wrestling spectacle. This year marks the first time a women's match has ever main-evented a WrestleMania.

In a stunning turn of events this week on SmackDown, Flair defeated the brand's current champion Asuka to capture the SmackDown title. Flair now holding a belt adds an extra dynamic to the match – but then there's always the option the WWE has to invoke Asuka's rematch clause to benefit the storyline. It would be bad form on the WWE's part to shoehorn Asuka into the WrestleMania main event at the last minute and change it to a Fatal Four-Way. What it does do is build a potential Lynch/Flair storyline post-WrestleMania: Flair could cost Lynch the title without actually winning the match. That way, Rousey and Flair still have titles – leaving Lynch out in the cold. Serious storyline potential there.

A staple in the music industry for over 40 years and Rock N Roll Hall of Fame Inductee in 2015, Jett joins the likes of Motörhead, Snoop Dogg, Pitbull, Kid Rock, Diddy, Machine Gun Kelly, Skylar Grey, Travis Barker, and Run-DMC and more – all having been a part of WrestleMania lore.

On Tuesday, Jett announced the new gig via Twitter:

While Rousey shared her thoughts on how excited she is to get Jett to perform…

You can check out Jett's performance, Rousey's title defense, and all the other action for yourselves at WrestleMania 35 on the WWE Network on Sunday, April 7th.
