'Barry': HBO Takes Out Season 3 Contract on Bill Hader Comedy Series

Looks like Barry (Bill Hader) will be graduating to his junior year at Life's "Acting School of Hard Knocks," with HBO Executive Vice President of Programming Amy Gravitt announcing on Wednesday that the critically-acclaimed, award-winning series Barry will be back for a third season. Created by Hader and Alec Berg, the series debuted its second season on March 31 to impressive reviews and ratings.

This season, Barry is trying to make a clean break from his old life of contract killing and dedicate himself completely to acting. But while Barry has made it a point of "take care of" some of the "external factors" that led him towards a life of violence – but it looks like he's only scratching the surface. When all the outside influences are gone – will Barry be forced to look inward for some answers?

Joining Hader for the second season of HBO's Barry are Stephen Root as Barry's handler, alarmed to contemplate a future without his primary source of income; Sarah Goldberg as a dedicated acting student who becomes the object of Barry's affection; Anthony Carrigan as an unfailingly polite mobster; and Henry Winkler as a pompous yet endearing acting teacher who takes Barry under his wing.

The first season of Barry was embraced with some serious Emmys love last September, with the series earning winds for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series (Hader); Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series (Winkler); and Outstanding Sound Mixing for a Comedy or Drama Series (Half-Hour) and Animation.

HBO's Barry was created and is executive produced by Berg and Hader; with Aida Rodgers serving as a co-executive producer. Liz Sarnoff serves as consulting producer, with Emily Heller as supervising producer. Julie Camino and Jason Kim are set to produce; with Duffy Boudreau and Amy Solomon serving as co-producers on the series.
