DC Comics to Kill Off The Speed Force in Death of the Speed Force

Shocking character deaths are a tried-and-true method of boosting sales and making comic books feel "important," but what if the industry has used this trick too much and nobody cares anymore? We know, it's an outrageous and unlikely suggestion… but what if it's true? If so, that would leave some innovative company to find a new way to boost sales and make a comic book feel important. What if, instead of killing off characters, a comic book publisher killed off an entire force of nature?

That appears to be the idea behind Death of the Speed Force, a new storyline beginning in The Flash this Summer, as revealed in DC's August solicitations. Of course, we all know this is just going to set things up for the big Return of the Speed Force event early next year.
