"Prodigal Son": Nothing Screams "Father/Son Bonding" More Than Quadruple Homicide [PREVIEW]

Next week's episode of FOX's Prodigal Son looks to build off the series' strong start with… a quadruple homicide? How exciting! Detective Gil (Lou Diamond Phillips) – as expected – has Bright (Tom Payne) on board as a consultant. Of course, he's making that decision against the wishes of the other detectives – who seem to still be harboring some resentment after Bright cut off a victim's hand last week to free him from getting blown up in a "life vs limb" situation.

"Prodigal Son" season 1, episode 2 "Annihilator": As Bright slips into the mind of a serial killer, he must deal with the repercussions of seeing his father for the first time in years.

A family is brutally poisoned, tied up, and the father's mouth is sewn shut – so it seems logical that Bright would enlist the help of his father Dr. Whitley (Michael Sheen)… or does it? Think about it: Bright is brilliant in his own right, and this isn't his father's protégé at work – so why ask for help?

"This crime scene is seriously messed up."

Bright continues to have gruesome flashbacks, and I'd bet that since his family reunion they will continue to increase – both in frequency and in brutality. So how will this affect him and his ability to perform his profiler duties with the NYPD? Detective Gil feels a certain level of debt to pay to Bright for saving him from being his father's next victim – but how long can he keep somone this potentially unstable on the payroll?

And to make a prediction, how many episodes in before Bright finds himself behind bars – accused of a crime he didn't commit.

"When I found the girl in the box…. there was no girl."

Comedically, I'll really enjoy the ME's transparent infatuation and lust for Bright while being entertained by gruesome murders and some seriously disturbing psychopathology. I'm curious to see if a love interest will be introduced – expecting that to happen. "Annihilator" looks to have more fascinating father/son interactions, family objections, and death… lots and lots of death.

FOX's Prodigal Son airs Monday nights at 9 p.m. ET – now here's a look at a gallery of images for this week's episode:
