World of Warcraft: Shadowlands is the eighth expansion for the long-running MMORPG. It just made its debut today during BlizzCon 2019.

Blizzard debuted a lengthy cinematic that showed off some very intriguing story beats, including an appearance by Bolvar Fordragon as well as Sylvanas Windrunner. After destroying the Lich King's helmet, Sylvanas has an exciting turn on her hands that you'll really just need to watch the trailer to watch unfold. It's pretty exciting stuff.

Sylvanas will travel to the Shadowlands, an area that's full of "fallen warriors," and players will be able to traipse around a new continent in the game. In addition, there will be new NPC factions and other updates that longtime fans will certainly be thrilled to check out.

This new Shadowlands expansion isn't especially out of the blue. There's been some in-game evidence pointing to the expansion's eventual release for some time. The game has finally been named and is out in the open. That means it's time to start thinking about renewing that WoW subscription.

World of Warcraft: Shadowlands is currently targeting a 2020 release and will feature raid content at launch. It will also be patched in the few months following its initial debut.
