Rumor: Are We Getting A Remake Of "Tony Hawk's Pro Skater"?

If the latest rumors are to be believed, it sounds like we're getting a remake of the first two Tony Hawk's Pro Skater games from Activision. Probably one of the most famous franchises when you think back to popular PlayStation titles, and by far the most prominent skateboarding titles of all time. There was a moment where the series wasn't just a part of the culture, it was damn near a necessity to have in your library as a gamer.

Now it sounds like we may be getting a revival of the series. Or at the very least, a remake. The tweet from games journalist Sabi we're showing you here was posted over the weekend, in which they elaborate about how Activision is apparently working on prototypes of remade versions of the first two Tony Hawk's Pro Skater games.

If it's true and we're actually going to get remakes, that's pretty cool. However, as much as people love those games, they were also focused on a specific time in our culture. If Activision is actually thinking about bringing back the franchise, it seems to us that a better course of action would be to make a brand new one. Start fresh instead of just upgrading the graphics of the old. Or worse, possibly pissing off fans with an inferior version of the original. We're not going to fight the company if we get a remake, we're just curious why do a remake in the first place when a new one would be way better.
