Review: "Game Of Thrones" Complete Series Holiday Kit

'Tis the season for bloodshed and winter finally arriving. HBO was kind enough to send us a special Game Of Thrones Holiday Kit for us to review. The kit itself is a collection of holiday-themed items that you can find on the official shop, complete in a single box which you can see here. But how well does it stack up as a complete item? We opened it up to see what goodies were inside!

First off, we have a special Lovepop Card designed with the show in mind. It is a goblet filled with wine, and as the card opens up, it turns into a 3D paper cutout of the object. Taking one of the greatest lines from the series, spoken by Peter Dinklage as Tyrion Lannister, "I drink, and I know things." Inside the sleeve is a separate piece of paper to which you can write a personal message. I love these cards as they are above and beyond a joyful piece of sentimental expression. I mean, if you're going to get this kind of card above something from Hallmark, you know they care.

Next up, we have a journal with the face of The Night King on the cover from Insight Editions. This is well done as the cover has some raised designs to give it some texture to the face. As well as a holographic eye to show off the nature of the White Walker's soul. Within the book are standard journal pages, all blank with lines. But no special design to them. Which was kind of a let down as we thought they might decide to watermark them. But no, the inside is a standard journal format.

Moving onto clothing, we got a special Game Of Thrones holiday sweater from ILM. Along with some family crests on the front, it comes with the words 'Tis The Last Season. Also, check out the decorative Iron Thrones they added all along the edges and the arms, plus swords with the criss-cross pattern. This is a wonderful sweater that borders between the ugly sweater/brilliant design concept. Plus, it's mighty warm.

The last of the holiday-themed items is a stocking made by Kurt Adler. This is basically the stocking of all stockings for GoT fans. It has every family crest across a black design, along with the show's logo at the top. Perfect for hanging across the fireplace or any other position you wish to keep a stocking in. It actually holds quite a number of items for the size of it.

The last item in the box is the complete series on Blu-Ray. As you can see, they made it up into a proper box set. But rather than having them in one complete system where it acts as a Blu-ray booklet, they have every season individually wrapped in its own case as they were originally released. Which means those of you hoping for more bonus content out of this box will have to wait and see what they do with the eventual 4K releases.

Overall, this was a mighty fine holiday kit. I can't see too many Game Of Thrones fans having an issue with it, as there's a little something for everyone in here. I would highly recommend it as a present for someone who is obsessed with the show and wants to spend the holidays enjoying it. It is a little pricy, as we saw on the website it was running between $150-200 depending on when you get it and at what discount. But considering everything inside, that's a pretty reasonable price.
