Dan DiDio to be a Featured Guest at London Film And Comic Con 2020 – Same Weekend as San Diego

While some comic conventions are looking at mass cancellations running through the summer, the London And Film Comic Con has just booked one hell of a guest for the summer of 2020, one former publisher of DC Comics, Dan DiDio.

DiDio was fired from DC Comics less than two weeks ago, but I understand he has not signed a non-compete or NDA from working for decades as Publisher of DC Comics. This will be his first convention appearance after leaving DC. And suddenly it has made that show even more exciting. I have been invited as a guest as well – I was worried about how I could cover both San Diego and attend LFCC, but it looks like I'm just going to have to find a way now. Tickets can be booked here.

DiDio will attend the show for all three days, Friday 24th July to Sunday 26th July, in the Upper Level Comic Zone of the show, held in Kensington Olympia, London. I was there this weekend for their Spring show and seemed unaffected by coronavirus concerns.

Writer, editor, and publisher Dan Didio is one of the most well-known faces in comics due to his eighteen year tenure at DC Entertainment. Brought in as 'Vice President – Editorial' in 2002, Didio was promoted to 'Vice President – Executive Editor, DC Universe' two years later. From February 2010 until February 2020, he was DC's co–publisher along with Jim Lee.

While at DC, Dan spearheaded history-rebooting events for the company, aimed at keeping their characters fresh. These included REBIRTH, THE NEW 52, and a variety of hugely successful comic industry events including BLACKEST NIGHT, IDENTITY CRISIS, FLASHPOINT, FOREVER EVIL, INFINITE CRISIS, DARK NIGHTS: METAL, DOOMSDAY CLOCK and YEAR OF THE VILLAIN, among many others.

As well as the publishing side, Didio is an accomplished comics writer, having written for licenses such as OUTSIDERS, METAL MEN, O.M.A.C, ADAM STRANGE, PHANTOM STRANGER, SUPERBOY and JUSTICE LEAGUE DARK among many others.

Before joining DC, DiDio served as Senior Vice President, Creative Affairs for Mainframe Entertainment. In this position, DiDio oversaw the development, distribution, marketing, promotion, merchandising and licensing of all Mainframe's television properties, including WEIRD-OHS, BEAST MACHINES, BLACK BULL'S GATECRASHER and JILL THOMPSON'S SCARY GODMOTHER. He also served as a Story Editor for REBOOT and WAR PLANETS.

Didio stepped down from his co-publisher role in February 2020. This will be his first convention appearance outside of DC.
