John Constantine Praises the NHS in the Next Issue of Hellblazer

This week saw a most excellent issue of John Constantine: Hellblazer #5 from Si Spurrier and Matias Bergara. It's an excellent issue that, due to coronavirus greatly impacting all aspects of comic distribution, many stores in Britain get copies of.  As Britain celebrated the work of doctors, nurses and other staff of the NHS with applause into the street across the country, Spurrier shared a page from the upcoming John Constantine: Hellblazer #6 in which protagonist John Constantine has some very kind words to say about the NHS.

Transcribed, John says:

You know what makes me proud? It's this. It's the fact that whoever you are, wherever you're from, if you're f-cked up and broken, somone'll help. For free. National Health Service is the only thing we ever got right. The one time we turned our pride into something that puts us all on a level – instead of in layers.

Si Spurrier asks to spread it far and wide. Will do, boss.

As Noah's mother lies in the hospital, deep in a coma with no prognosis of awakening, John Constantine makes the acquaintance of a rapacious spirit-one with a terrifying significance for all of England. In Shops: Apr 22, 2020 SRP: $3.99

As for the next issue, well that's still up in the air as well. But it's good to get such a timely glimpse. Albeit with a freaky cover of someone walking through a very empty hospital indeed, with just a little blood…
