From New Movies To Theatrical Cuts: Five 'Star Wars Celebration Orlando' Predictions

star wars celebration

As we move closer to the summer season the convention circuit is really heating up. The next big one to happen will be Star Wars Celebration Orlando and it's time to make some predictions about what we could learn at the convention. We also have to remember that Disney and Lucasfilm tend to have a presence at Comic-Con International, and D23, the Disney convention, is also this summer so they have plenty of opportunities to make announcements aside from Celebration. We'll be ranking our predictions from one to five with one being very unlikely to five being a sure thing.

starwarslastjedi1. 'Star Wars: The Last Jedi' Will Release The First Trailer
This one is the easiest prediction to make. It's April and we still haven't seen a single frame of the movie that is due out in December. Disney and Lucasfilm wanted to give Rogue One: A Star Wars Story a chance to run its course before ramping up the marketing for the new movie. Rogue One has been released on blu-ray and DVD so now is the perfect time to unveil the trailer to a room of excited fans. The trailer will also be released online almost immediately after, but fans in the room will likely get some behind the scene footage or a clip that won't be released.
How Likely? The trailer is a 5/5 while fans getting some sort of bonus is a 4/5.

Han Solo Cast Photo2. We Learn The Title Of The 'Han Solo' Movie And Perhaps Some Footage
We learned in Hall H last summer that a movie only being in production for a few short days doesn't mean that they can't dazzle us with a teaser. There is a good chance that Lucasfilm will reveal the title of the Han Solo movie and perhaps we'll get to see a little bit of footage.
How likely? 3/5 we learn the title and 2/5 we get footage.

obiwankenobi3. They Announce The Next Movie To Come Out After Episode IX
This is an announcement that feels better suited to D23 or Comic-Con International but there is the chance that Lucasfilm and Disney will let us know what the next slate of Star Wars movies is going to be post-Episode IX. The ones that seem to have the most traction are an Obi-Wan solo movie or a Boba Fett movie, but there doesn't appear to be any hints one way or another.
How likely? 2/5 because this stage is big but there are bigger ones later in the year.

Fans have been screaming for this one for years and there couldn't be a better time to announce that they are finally getting their wish of the theatrical cuts are finally being released. Disney is a company that wouldn't leave money on the table and it's quite obvious that this is money on the table. However, they also wouldn't do it unless Lucas signed off on it and he is rumored to be on the 40th Anniversary panel that is happening on Thursday. That being said as much as fans may want it we probably aren't getting those theatrical cuts because without Lucas' blessing Disney won't release those cuts.
How likely? 1/5 and it might be time to move on.

star wars rebels5. A New Cartoon Is Going To Be Revealed And 'Star Wars: Rebels' Will End After Season Four
At the moment we don't know that much about the next season of Star Wars: Rebels, but we do know that the show is likely to end with the events of Rogue One being told from the point of view of the Ghost crew. If season four brings us to the battle at Scarif then the show is likely going to be ending. The cartoons have been serving Star Wars well and helping with the younger demographic so if this is the end of Rebels then it could be time to announce a new series. However, they might hold off announcing the new series until Rebels actually ends.
How likely? 3/5 they announce this is the final season of Rebels and 2 /5 they announce a new series.

There is a whole pile of other things they could announce from revealing character names to more comics or books on the way but these are the big five that everyone seems to be talking about. Regardless of what they decide to announce here or later in the year we can expect a ton of fun from Orlando this weekend.
