Meth Dealer Addicted… To Comic Books

Meth Dealer Addicted… To Comic BooksBleeding Cool reported on this case a year and a half ago, about 40 year old Aaron Castro charged with methamphetamine dealing and weapons charged who is also accused of money laundering by investing in comic books.

But rather than a clever way to legitimise the money he was earning illegally, it seems to have been an addiction in its own right, far more than the meth he was selling.

Smoking Gun has interview with one of Castro's sellers (of drugs) Lonna Gwinn, saying that Aaron began to struggle with money because he would spend his drug money on comic books."

I've seen some cases of comics addiction before, friends of mine going without food to buy the latest Jim Lee Batman, and have even intervened when I could. But this kind of addiction seems hard to combat. Comics screwyou up.

The FBI have filed to seize ownership of 18,753 comics, worth half a million dollars. Although I bet he'd probably only get a hundred thousand on eBay.
