Boom! Offers Intermixed Incentive Cover For Adventure Time Comics #1

KABOOM_AT_Comics_001_Incentive_002Yesterday, I brought your attention to Boom! Studios' offering two retailer exclusive variant covers for auction through Previews for Kong of Skull Island. Hidden a bit deeper in their order form was another incentive strategy I've never come across before.
Adventure Time Comics #1, the second ongoing Adventure Time series, will have an intermixed incentive variant cover. The industry's first by my accounting.

Retailers will be able to order a main cover and a subscription cover of Adventure Time Comics #1 normally. For every 5 combined copies they order, they can get an incentive cover by Salty for free. Some retailers mark these incentive covers up to offset the extra copies they have to order to get them, while others mix them into their shelf copies at normal cover price, and others still reward pullbox customers with these incentives.

Here's the twist: The 1-in-5 Salty incentive variant cover will have another cover by Nick Pitarra mixed in for every 5th copy. So a retailer who orders the 1-in-5 free incentive cover might get the Salty cover or they might get the Pitarra cover, based purely on luck of the draw. The only way to guarantee a Pitarra cover is to ordered 25 copies, ensuring 5 incentive variant covers one of which will be the Pitarra.

It's a chase within a chase.

I can hear Eric Stephenson's speech at ComicsPRO next year now…
