C2E2 Avoids Comic Con Hell Weekend by Moving Forward a Week to March 22nd

In April it was announced that March 29th to the 31st 2019 would see C2E2 in Chicago, WonderCon in Anaheim, Planet Comicon in Kansas City, and (originally) Silicon Valley Comic Con in San Jose all happening on the same weekend.

Well, SVCC moved. And now we can drop another one of them.

According to their website, Reed POP's C2E2 is moving its dates a week earlier, to March 22nd, 2019 – March 24th, 2019.

And not so much blinking as, apparently, getting more space, better hotel availability — and a weekend ahead of its rivals.

Enquiring into the date change, we received the following release:

C2E2 fans are getting an early surprise this year as Chicago's home for pop culture and entertainment is kicking off the party one week earlier. ReedPOP, the world's leading producer of pop culture events around the globe is announcing today that 2019's edition of C2E2 will be moving up one week, taking place from March 22-24 once again in Chicago's McCormick Place Convention Center. The upcoming event marks the Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo's historic 10^th anniversary and this year's convention will still have the amazing lineup and programming that fans have come to expect.

"There are multiple considerations when changing the dates on a convention of this size," says ReedPOP Event Director Mike Armstrong. "Shifting one week earlier allows C2E2 to spread out over more McCormick Place, makes hotel rooms more readily available for fans and puts us in a better position to get big name talent and exhibitors that our fans want to see. Plus with Star Wars Celebration happening just a few weeks later, we ultimately felt moving C2E2 up a week would be best for the city of Chicago and allow us to put on the biggest and best event we could for our 10^th anniversary."
