It was a nice surprise when I came across the set of tweets below from creator of Mouse Guard David Petersen. I'm a big fan of the DC Comics series Gotham Academy, written by Brenden Fletcher and Becky Cloonan, but I had no idea that David Petersen would be working on some pages.
I adore everything David Petersen does, and his illustrations are always top notch. However, most of them are anthropomorphic. As you'll see below Petersen talked a bit about his process in working on the Gotham Academy pages…
Lessons from my Gotham Academy pages: 1) Drawing people is harder than drawing mice. 2) Drawing people over & over constantly is the hardest

I rarely draw people, almost never the same human more than once, and if I ever have, not on the same page for comparison. #AmateurHour

David, next time don't underestimate fictional likeness…of characters based on real people you know, but when they were younger.

I did get to design the cover for a fictional book in my Gotham Academy story. I'm so pleased with it, I made 1 panel just that book's cover

Overall, this is incredibly exciting news. I can't wait to see more of David's process and the final product of course!
