Alan Cumming Set To Play Painter Salvador Dali in New Biopic

Josh Hylton writes for Bleeding Cool:

You've probably had more exposure to surrealist painter Salvador Dali than you think. You have most likely seen his most famous work, The Persistence of Memory, even if you can't name it, and if you're a big Hitchcock fan, you've seen one of his many forays into film, as he was the one who built the dream sequence in Spellbound.

With other collaborations with Hitchcock and even Walt Disney himself, I'd be willing to bet every person reading this has, in one way or another, experienced the artwork of Salvador Dali.

I hoped you liked that experience because you're about to have it again, except longer, crazier and in 3D. The Sydney Morning Herald recently ran a piece about the famed artist and his upcoming biopic directed by Philippe Mora. The movie will star Judy Davis and the eccentric Alan Cumming as Dali and will reportedly unfold "not as a linear narrative, but as a series of dream-like, fantasy sequences." The goal is to show you the world as Dali bizarrely saw it, so I'd expect to see fans of the famous painter sitting side by side with those high on some substance or another once the release date rolls around.
