Michael Bay And Jason Statham Deny Rumours Of Transformers Returning With The Transporter

There have been a lot of rumours circling on the internet that Michael Bay is meeting covertly with Paramount in their secret volcano lair to discuss plans for the next Transformers movie. Certainly the numbers point to the continuation of the series, with Dark of the Moon currently holding a worldwide gross of $1,119,241,043 according to Box Office Mojo, and we reported just yesterday that Paramount may have decided to shoot Transformers 4 and 5 back-to-back. However, Bay has denied being involved with the development of another sequel. On his website yesterday he responded to the rumours by saying:

I am currently not talking to Paramount on T4 and T5 despite reports. I'm looking at a lot of possibilities coming my way right now weighing options. Most likely going to be doing the low budget Pain and Gain, a true story crime thriller. It's a very quick shoot and quite funny. Also just finishing the 3 disc set of the Transformer trilogy. Lies, lies I tell you! He had me convinced until I heard the phrase "low budget".

The other rumour floating around is that Jason Statham may be attempting to fill the oversized clown shoes of lead actor Shia LaBeouf for the movie. But in an interview with Statham at last month's Toronto Film Festival, MTV reported that the actor had never even heard the rumours before.

"You know, I don't know how those things start. You read them. Someone told me about it. [But] the internet is a dangerous place. There's a lot of stuff out there."

Having said that, he'd still consider doing a Transformers movie. Want to know why?

"Michael Bay is a talented man. This last one just made a billion dollars around the world, so people like his films. He's a talented man."

He's a talented man.

In any case, Bay has only denied being in talks with Paramount, so if he's telling the truth then there's still no guarantee he won't return to the franchise once he's finished shooting his low budget true story crime film.

As for Jason Statham, I'm far too afraid of him to call him a liar.
