Numbercrunching: Death Of Dracula

Numbercrunching: Death Of Dracula Cost? $3.99

Shot? One

Creators? Victor Gischler and Giuseppe Camuncoli. Though this all came from an original idea from David Gabriel, Senior Vice President of Sales & Circulation. Mutants Versus Vampires!

Pages: 40

Cost per page: 10 cents

That's more like it. Isn't it just? If all $3.99 comics were 40 pages of story long, no one would have a problem.

Decapitations: 3

Stakings: 1

Burning up: 10

Number of vampire sects present at the hundred-yearly meeting of the entire vampire clans: 10

How odd is it that almost all the female vampires present in the entire book are part of a seductress cult called whores by Dracula: 86% odd.

Really? There's a couple of Amish-style Anchorite female vampires in the background. But that's all. The rest are dressed in PVC. But, you know. This is vampires. And Dracula. Never knowingly feminist.

Mention of the Marvel Universe that this book is supposed to severely affect: 0. Although there are Atlantean vampires present.

What's this book actually like? Well it's the mob isn't it? Italian gangster comic, with all the families present, a murder of the Don, a struggle for power and politics and our leadtrying to decide where he belongs. With the old school or these new daywalking undead.

How do they do that then? They've got a trinket. An electronical doodad that bends light around the wearer. Expect it's completely nonsensical. Any kind of field that would do such a thing would cover vampires standing next to the protected vampire. And it would make a difference where the doodad was located as well, as to what kind of field it generated surely? It's a magical amulet masquerading as high tech.An iCharm.

So where does it go from here? Our lead, Janus, son of Dracula, off touring the world. Probably trying to raise a army or warn people of the coming Vampocalypse.

So do I need to read this to have a snowball's chance of understanding what's going on in Marvel books for the next year? Probably. Lots of characters introduced, lots of vampire types and sects , this book may work as a primer for all that.

Chance of a second print? 100%.

Chance of a third print? 40%

Chance it will be made available on the iPad pretty damn quick? 76%.
