Guillermo del Toro and Kevin Costner have chosen British director Otto Bathhurst to direct their upcoming thriller Midnight Delivery, according to THR.
It's a big get for the relatively unknown British helmer who won a BAFTA for directing Ben Whishaw in BBC series Criminal Justice and has also done episodes of Black Mirror and Peaky Blinders. Still, what's critical acclaim and a BAFTA compared to the fanboy cred that comes with being in business with del Toro?
In Midnight Delivery, written by Neil Cross from an original idea by del Toro, Costner will play a father who attempts to save his estranged daughter from a Colombian drug ring by agreeing to become a drug mule for the cartel on a midnight flight to London. I'm not telling him how to do his fatherly duty, but I'm pretty sure Liam Neeson would never let it get that far.
