Steve Coogan May "Reanimate" Alan Partridge In A Couple Of Years

I saw a lot of exceptional films at the London Film Festival but probably the most pleasant surprise was Philomena. It's a very smartly written and superbly acted film, that has a lot of heart but also a great deal of edge to it.

Despite the serious subject matter – babies taken from their mothers by nuns – there is a lot of humour in Philomena. Steve Coogan co-wrote the screenplay and he draws on many of his favourite comedic tricks, techniques that have worked very well in previous work such as Alan Partridge. One cut between two scenes in Philomena that gets a big laugh in particular is played in almost the exact same way as in an episode of I'm Alan Partridge.

Digital Spy spoke to Coogan this week about Philomena and Alan and the possibility of a sequel, unsurprisingly, also came up.

I do hope they reanimate him sooner rather than later.

Philomena is out in the UK on the 1st of November and in America on the 27th of November.
