Will Strip Magazine Bring Back Hook Jaw?

Will Strip Magazine Bring Back Hook Jaw?

Yesterday, Bleeding Cool reported on a new UK comics anthology from Bosnian publishers PrintMedia, based on their currently-successful Strip Magazin.

Editor John Freeman has posted on the 2000AD boards;

There will be an announcement next week about the inclusion of a classic British comic strip from the 1970s in Strip Magazine UK. There was some toing and froing on this and I can't actually say which strip it is but you're the first to know that agreement has been reached and fans of action will be sure to want to sink their teeth into it…

Hook Jaw was a Jaws-alike strip that addressed environmental issues, appearing in the proto-2000AD weekly comic, Action, created by Pat Mills. Much celebrated and recently reprinted (US/UK), Hook Jaw was one of the many reasons that there were public campaigns against Action, which saw its eventual cancellation for, well, just being too violent. It would be 2000AD that took this tone on, and disguised it in science-fiction.

But could the great shark be back on UK shelves? Well away from tiny impressionable minds?
