See Trevor Von Eeden Drawing The First Black Lightning And More In 1978 Comics Documentary Find…

You have nothing better to do for the next 16 minutes than watch this 1978 documentary, The World Of Comic Books, which looked at the New York comics industry, rushing back and forth between DC and Marvel Comics offices – with Stan Lee admitting to the idea DC had that he wish he'd had first.

It's not the Human Fly, though you get to see Stan Lee and Archie Goodwin planning that cultural dead end, while DC Comics gives you Neal Adams, Julius Schwartz and Denny O'Neill doing Superman Vs Mohamed Ali.

And 16-year old Trevor Von Eeden working on the first Black Lightning comic book, forty years later to be a TV series.

We also get to see nascent comic conventions, fans, art collectors and cosplay back when it was just called a costume competition. And rather than acclaiming that comics aren't for kids anymore, it emphasises that, no, that's exactly who they're for.
