Pokémon Go to Host its First South American Safari Zone Event This Month

Pokémon Go's Safari Zone events have been pretty big hits so far for the AR mobile game, however, there are some regions that haven't been host to a Safari Zone just yet. South America will get its first Safari Zone later this month in Porto Alegre, Brazil. The even will run from January 25th through January 27th for all trainers who pick up a ticket.

Entry to the event is free.

The official announcement reads:

The first Pokémon GO Safari Zone event in South America is coming soon! Mark your calendars for a Safari Zone event in Porto Alegre, Brazil, which is a free, ticketed event taking place from Friday, January 25, to Sunday, January 27 Trainers who attend will be able to spot Pokémon such as Psyduck, Unown, and Relicanth along the recently revitalized Guaíba riverbank! Founded in 1769, Porto Alegre is Brazil's fifth-largest metropolitan area and a center for Brazil's gaucho history and culture.

Unable to make it to Porto Alegre? Trainers all around Brazil will still encounter many of the Pokémon featured at the Safari Zone in the wild. Additionally, Psyduck appearances will be increased globally over the weekend!

This is a free event, but tickets are limited. Trainers can register for a chance to receive a ticket at this link. And don't forget to make plans early to make sure you obtain transportation and accommodations for the event.

We can't wait to see you there!

The Safari Zone, in the Pokémon franchise, is a wildlife Pokémon where trainers can take part in the Safari Game. They've got access to the whole park, a cache of bait and rocks, and 30 Safari Balls to use to their heart's content (or until they run out of Safari Balls) as they run around looking for rare Pokémon. The catch to the Safari Game is that players are limited to a certain number of steps, so they've got to move wisely to make it to the deeper parts of the park. The Safari Zone is unique in the Pokémon games because it is the one area of the game where players do not have the option to battle wild Pokémon in order to catch them.

Pokémon Go's Safari Zone events are a bit different, as entry is free and players can wander around the event zone to catch Pokémon which are rare in their region.
