Alex Garland's Annihilation Finally Gets an Official Poster

One of this writer's most anticipated movies of 2018 is not one of approximately 2,581 major franchise blockbusters coming out this year, but the second movie by writer/director Alex Garland called Annihilation. The movie, which is the second he's directed after kicking down the door in 2014 with Ex Machina, looks just as moody and distressing as his previous feature. It also has a stellar cast including Natalie Portman, Oscar Isaac, Tessa Thompson, and Gina Rodriguez. While we've had trailers and images for months, we now have an official poster.

Here is the latest trailer, which gives a better idea of what is going on and what kind of visuals we can expect.

Ex Machine was the sleeper hit of 2014 that earned some award recognition despite not being the normal genre that award voters go for. If Annihilation is even half as good as Ex Machina, we're in for a serious treat next month.

Summary: A biologist signs up for a dangerous, secret expedition where the laws of nature don't apply.

Annihilation, directed by Alex Garland, stars Natalie Portman, Oscar Isaac, Gina Rodriguez, Tessa Thompson, and Jennifer Jason Leigh. It will be released on February 23rd.
