Earlier tonight, Alien 5 director Neill Blomkamp revealed via Twitter that his planned renovation is on hold pending the release of Ridley Scott's Alien prequel, Alien: Paradise Lost.

Scott had previously suggested the two films would be developed in tandem, but perhaps something has changed.
Since first sharing concept art of Sigourney Weaver's Lt. Ripley and Michael Biehn's scared and aged Cpl. Hicks early in 2015, Blomkamp captured the imagination of fans hoping he would make a direct sequel to Aliens that ignored both characters' fates in Alien3 and Alien Resurrection.
Meanwhile, Scott's planned continuation of Prometheus will see Noomi Rapace's Dr. Elizabeth Shaw and Michael Fassbender's android Peter O'Toole cospalyer David make their way to the homeworld of the alien engineers responsible for creating mankind and, possibly, the alien itself. Scott intends to shoot the picture next year.
