Avengers: Infinity War – Russo Brothers Explain How They Chose Thanos's Victims

SPOILERS for Avengers: Infinity War. If you haven't seen this movie yet you should do that now. It's out on home release even, so go do that.

It was the snap heard around the universe. After a full movie of the Avengers, the Guardians, and the entire army of Wakanda fighting to save the universe, Thanos got the final infinity stone and snapped his fingers. What followed were scenes of favorite characters turning to dust right before our eyes. It was an intense moment that left audiences speechless. In a new featurette directors Anthony and Joe Russo talk about why they chose the characters they did to vanish.

It sounds like they thought each death through very carefully, which makes sense when you think about the characters that died. Rocket proclaims he could lose a lot, so all of the Guardians die. Steve has to watch Bucky die a second time. Wanda looked more relieved than afraid, because after losing Pietro and Vision she probably wanted to die. While the deaths were shocking, they weren't really there for shock value.

Summary: The Avengers and their allies must be willing to sacrifice all in an attempt to defeat the powerful Thanos before his blitz of devastation and ruin puts an end to the universe.

Avengers: Infinity War, directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, stars Robert Downey Jr., Josh Brolin, Mark Ruffalo, Tom Hiddleston, Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Chris Pratt, Elizabeth Olsen, Sebastian Stan, Benedict Cumberbatch, Paul Bettany, Chadwick Boseman, Benedict Wong, Zoe Saldana, Karen Gillan, Vin Diesel, Dave Bautista, Pom Klementieff, Scarlett Johansson, Don Cheadle, Tom Holland, Bradley Cooper, and Anthony Mackie.

The film released on August 14th on 4K Blu-ray, DVD, and digital.
