Chris Marker's La Jetée Gets A New Score From British Live Electronica Duo JayetAl

Chris Marker's twenty-eight minute sci-fi film La Jetée is absolutely beautiful and heavily inspired Terry Gilliam in making 12 Monkeys. The story in La Jetée is told almost entirely through still images and a voiceover but it really is the images that stick in one's mind long after the film has finished.

British live electronica duo Jayetal have recently re-scored the film, removing the voiceover but leaving subtitles for it on screen. I'm not always a fan of modern re-scorings but this one is reasonably well done and it's always nice to have an excuse to rewatch La Jetée. [Full disclosure – I went to university with one half of Jayetal but haven't actually been in touch with him for years]

You can watch the re-scored version in full below and if you don't already own it I can highly recommend Criterion's release of  La Jetée and Sans Soleil.
