Darren Aronofsky is still looking for a near-home project that will allow him the personal time he wouldn't get by scooting off to Japan for The Wolverine. The latest contender is a long in development sci-fi film called Human Nature, built from an original script by Jeff Welch. Here's how Vulture set the plot premise up:
A man… is cryogenically frozen and wakes up years later to a world in which humans have become pets of another species.
Which other species? You'd be mad to bet on the apes because there's another franchise that has those guys all sewn up. So how about dogs, maybe? Crazy raspberry ants? Jerboas? The slender bloody loris?
Maybe it will be something new, something from outer space. I expect it will be something performance captured, whatever it is.
George Clooney has reportedly attached himself to star as the deep frozen Rap Van Winkle, which should help the project's standing at Warner Bros. According to the Vulture report, we shouldn't be surprised if this skips to the front of the queue and is Aronofsky's next project, but there really is a lot on his list.
