Justice League: Ezra Miller Knows His Flash Mythology And Apologizes For A Missing Element

When it comes to adapting superheroes to the big screen, we all just need to accept that certain elements of our favorite characters just don't translate well. It doesn't make the original idea bad by any stretch of the word — it just means that comics and movies aren't consumed the same way. While this likely isn't one that would have made fans angry, Justice League star Ezra Miller said to Entertainment Weekly that there is an element to the Flash that will be left out, and apologized for it:

"Well, you know, look," says Miller. "I can confirm, spoiler alert, his suit does not pop out of his ring [in the movie]." Miller, who speaks with fluency about the different eras of Flash lore, has clearly anticipated this question. "Things have to progress, you know? Original Barry Allen was clearly an incredibly, incredibly clever scientist. We acknowledge and respect that." He adds, playfully, "We want to apologize to the fans who are mad about the ring thing."

Miller has done his research on the character to be aware of that aspect of the costume, and while he probably didn't need to apologize, he is walking into this character with his back against the wall. Much like his co-stars, Miller is competing against another person playing the same character on TV. Grant Gustin's performance is largely liked by fans and Miller has been playing damage control from day one to convince people to give him a chance.

"I know the ring is the coolest thing about the DC universe," he says. "It was a little hard for us to sell in this version of this universe right now. Bear with us! There's gonna be other cool things."

All right then, Ezra — we'll see what you've got in November.

Summary: Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman's selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy.

Justice League, directed by Zack Snyder, stars Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, Jason Momoa, Ezra Miller, Ray Fisher, and Henry Cavill. It will be released on November 17th.
