Crimson Peak director Guillermo del Toro is in talks to remake the 1966 sci-fi classic Fantastic Voyage, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The original film features Stephen Boyd, Raquel Welch and Donald Pleasence as part of a five-person team miniaturized to perform internal surgery after an assassination attempt on a Soviet defector goes awry. The group encounters the strange, wonderful and occasionally brutal world inside the human body. They also fight white blood cells.
Del Toro will develop and direct the picture for 20th Century Fox and work with screenwriter David S. Goyer on the adaptation. It is presumed that the new version will update the story from its Cold War origins to some modern terror threat.
The film currently has no scheduled release date.
