While there has been some talk about the Punisher, as played by The Walking Dead's Jon Bernthal, might receive his own solo series on Netflix, it seems Marvel's original plan with the streaming service will not be altered for a new addition. At least, not if Jeph Loeb can be believed.
The Marvel Television executive vice president told the Digital Spy (via Comic Book Movie), "I think that's something that people are speculating on, as opposed to something that's actually happening."
And while Marvel's original Netflix plan — which consists of five television series: Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist and The Defenders — will not be augmented to slot in the Punisher, it will accommodate further seasons of the already released series.
Daredevil's second year is set to debut on March 18th while a second season of Jessica Jones was also recently ordered. "The fact that we get to continue telling stories with these characters speaks a lot about the quality of the storytelling and the acting and the writing," said Loeb. "We are telling the best stories that we can at Netflix, and they seem to be responding to it."
