Has Joe Cornish really, at last found his first directing gig since breaking out with 2011's Attack the Block? The Wrap is reporting he has indeed signed on to direct his next film, and it's one that should be right up his alley: spy thriller Section 6, which has Jack O'Connell attached to one of the lead roles.
The 1920s set thriller follows the formation of the British intelligence agency MI6 and its first director, Sir George Mansfield Cummings, who served as the inspiration for Ian Fleming's fictional M in his James Bond novels (which of course were also based on his own experiences as a British spy).
The trade reports "several A-listers" are interested in the Cummings role, while O'Connell has the other lead as a young protege. Universal hopes this will be just the first film in a new franchise.
Let's hope this isn't another false alarm.
