i09 reports that director Robert Rodriguez and actor John Malkovich have teamed up to create an ad (of sorts) for Rémy Martin the makers of the high-end Louis XIII Cognac. The luxury liquor is aged 100 years, so the two film talents have made a short film, 100 Years, that will not be seen until 2115.
Provided, of course, there's anyone left to see it or drink the congac.
While a marketing exercise, there is an interesting dimension to the notion of a film time capsule. And in the brand-heavy reality of 2015, it makes sense that the message filmmakers send to the future would be a commercial for a company that might not exist in a 100 years time. And while none of us will never see the film, Rodriguez and Malkovich also produced ads for Louis XIII Cognac featuring various vision of 2115. One seems to be the most hopeful for the future, but take a look and cast your own vote for your favorite future.
100 Years may or may not be released on November 18th, 2115.
