There were several moments during Luke Cage and The Defenders where audiences were on the edge of their seat for what seems like a really sick reason; we were all waiting for Misty Knight (Simone Missick) to lose her arm. Her comic book counter part lost her arm in an explosion and was given a sweet new arm by Tony Stark. When they announced Misty for the Luke Cage series it was only a matter of time before Misty lost an arm.
Well, we finally got out wish(?) in the last episode of The Defenders. Time for some spoilers regarding how Misty loses her arm though so if you haven't watched the entire series yet and you don't want to find out how it happens then skip this.
Misty breaks into the Midland Financial building after figuring out that Claire (Rosario Dawson) is in trouble. When she gets there she finds Colleen (Jessica Henwick) fighting her old sensei Bakuto (Ramon Rodriguez). Bakuto looks like he's about to take Claire's head off and Misty jumps in to save her losing an arm in the process. Misty wakes up in a hospital with Colleen in the room. Colleen tells her that Danny owns the hospital and it is state of the art so he could help her if she wants.
It turns out that Misty ends up accepting that help. In a new image posted by Entertainment Weekly we get our first look at Misty's new arm.
It looks awesome. It's not the bright gold that we see from the comics but it does look like a high tech arm that would fit into a mostly realistic world. We don't know what kind of enhancements this arm could have since Marvel is still keeping the lid on what Luke Cage season 2 is going to be about. We don't even know if Misty is going to remain with the NYPD right now. What we do know is that that arm is going to make her a formidable foe against the bad guys of Harlem.
Luke Cage season 2 will stream to Netflix sometimes in 2018.
