While talking with Collider, X-Men producer Simon Kinberg offered a quick update on both X-Men television projects, Hellfire and Legion. Both are still in development, but he expects to shoot pilots for both in the new year. He also offered a looking into the tone of Legion, saying "what I'm seeing on Legion with [developer Noah Hawley] and FX is an intent to do something completely original in the genre, in some ways to sort of blow up the paradigm of comic book or superhero stories and almost do our Breaking Bad of superhero stories."
Presumably, he means the way the AMC series redefined serialized drama on cable television and not its specific themes and ideas. The project clearly excites him as he recalled having a three-and-a-half hour phone conversation with Hawley during the Russian premiere of X-Men: Days of Future Past.
As both are only in the pilot stage, it is unclear when or if either show will air.
