Producer Simon Kinberg Wants To Try The Fantastic Four Again

fantastic_four-2560x1440Despite The Fantastic Four failing to ignite a stable film franchise twice, producer Simon Kinberg says he like to try making another film based on the concept.

While talking to Den of Geek (via The Wrap) about the upcoming X-Men: Apocalypse, Kinberg said he'd like to bring the cast — Miles Teller, Kate Mara, Michael B. Jordan and Jaime Bell — back as the team, but jettison the tone of director Josh Trank's reviled film. "We'll try to be truer to the essence of the tone of Fantastic Four, which is completely — well, not completely, but largely — distinct from the X-Men, which is [a] brighter, funner, more optimistic tone," he said, adding that the 2015 film messed with the DNA of the comic books, resulting in a bad film.

That optimistic tone is a tough one to crack, considering the attempts in the previous Fantastic Four films and the recent examination of collateral damage and superhero infighting. But it is only a matter of time before 20th Century Fox puts another Fantastic Four film into development and perhaps a brighter take on the team may be the best fit — provided they finally figure out how to depict Dr. Doom.
