Ridley Scott tells HeyUGuys the name of Prometheus 2 will have a familiar word in it:
So … Alien: Paradise Lost. I guess that means the film will sync up with the main Alien franchise sooner than even Scott himself said recently this week. I know shortly following the release of Prometheus, "Paradise" was bandied about as a possible title for the film. The sequel will presumably see android David and Dr. Elizabeth Shaw find the home of the Engineers, creators of both human beings and the xenomorph antagonists who chased Sigourney Weaver's Ellen Ripley through four films.
Neil Blomkamp is reportedly working on a fifth film featuring Weaver as Ripley; supposedly ignoring the events of Alien 3 and Alien Resurrection. Is there room enough on the studio slate, and our attention spans, for both?
Is it also possible that Scott was joking? I don't actually know what a Ridley Scott joke would look like, but one never knows what his films will ultimately be until their Final Cuts are released twenty-five years later.
Oh, I guess that is a Ridley Scott joke right there.
