There are a lot of different kinds of Coen Bros. movies, and if Sylvester Stallone is going to compare his new Rambo movie to one in particular, I'd sure like it to be Raising Arizona. But that's not what he did. He invoked No Country For Old Men.
According to German distributors Splendid Films, quoted by Film Futter (via Coming Soon), they've got the rights to the next Rambo movie. This will be the fifth and will see Big John meddling with Mexican cartels, or vice versa. Sly says it will No Country-like, and I'd hope that doesn't mean No Country-lite.
Man, I've written about so many prospective Rambo sequels over the years, both before and after the last film, that I've literally lost track of them all. One was going to have a genetically engineered monster in it, though, I remember that. Mexican cartels gave come up a few times too.
The Expendables 3 will be along in August. Rambo 5 will be along… we don't know just yet. Sylvester Stallone will be 68 years old in less than a fortnight. Maybe he oughta consider a Rambo film in the style of A Serious Man instead.
