As the trades confirm the involvement of David Thewliss, Melanie Thierry and Tilda Swinton in Terry Gilliam's Zero Theorem, they're also naming the young actor Lucas Hedges as having won a role. From the draft of the script I've read, he would most likely be playing one of the three major roles. So, well done Mr. Hedges. This could prove to be your break-out gig.
Meanwhile, somebody most definitely not in need of a break-out is Matt Damon. He's one of Gilliam's previous collaborators, having taken a lead role in The Brothers Grimm, and they certainly seemed to leave that project with a lot of respect for one another. It certainly wouldn't be a surprise if they ever collaborated again.
As they may indeed be about to.
Little Bleeder Jérôme pointed me towards some tweets by the young filmmaker Thibaut Buccellato. Translated, he said something like:
Some say that I'm filming in the same studios as the next Gilliam film with Matt Damon… Some say that Matt Damon is in my hotel.
Now, if people are telling Buccellato that Matt Damon is staying at the hotel now, maybe it has nothing to do with Zero Theorem at all, as it's not going to start shooting until towards the end of October. What he may be commenting on, however, is that Damon will be staying in the same hotel during the shoot.
Who would know this? I have no idea, but as Buccellato is booking into the same studio for his production, he's obviously dealing with folk involved in local film production. It's entirely possible that somebody knows who Gilliam is expecting, and where they'd be staying.
I tried to get further confirmation of Damon's involvement; nothing has yet been forthcoming. I'll update you as and when.
