At one time, cable outlet TNT was poised to bring a live-action version of DC Comics's Teen Titans to television. It was planned to feature Dick Grayson in his Nightwing persona and grown up versions of the Titans characters made popular by the Cartoon Network animated Teen Titans series. A pilot script co-written by Batman and Robin's Akiva Goldsman was commissioned and it seemed like all system go for DC properties to enter the live action cable TV sphere.
Then news on the series went deathly quiet until today.
Deadline reports that TNT president Kevin Reilly said, "We decided it wasn't where we wanted to go," when asked about the project at the Television Critics Association winter tour.
Perhaps with the series no longer in the works, Arrow executive producers Marc Guggenheim and Andrew Kreisberg can finally get their wish of bringing Nightwing to Star City. Or, more likely, we'll see Dick show up on Gotham.
