Disney Springs at Disney World to Have a Phased Reopening May 20th

Following the exciting news that Shanghai Disneyland is set to reopen May 11th, Disney Springs at Walt Disney World Resort will have a phased reopening to begin May 20th. In accordance with local government and health officials, Disney will be opening a limited number of stores and restaurants owned by third-party operating participants. This will take place during phase one of the reopening.

Disney Springs will be enforcing new rules and regulations to keep guests and employees safe. These regulations include increased cleaning, the use of face masks for employees and guests, limited-contact guest services, more safety measures, and additional training for employees. Disney Springs will also have a limited capacity, parking, and hours. Other protocols and safety procedures will be announced closer to the reopening. If you're already used to using mobile dining orders when you're at the resort, you'll already be used to some of the new safety guidelines.

The Disney World parks and resorts will still be open at this time. The parks closed in both Anaheim and Orlando on March 14th in response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Shanghai Disneyland will be the first Disney park to reopen with limited capacity on May 11th. This comes after select dining and shopping had reopened in Shanghai Disneyland.

Shanghai has already implemented several safety guidelines, including markers on the ground informing guests to keep at least 6 feet away from other guests, guests, and employees are to wear face masks, and character meet and greets will be severely limited. No contact will take place with a character until it's safe.

Other Orlando based theme parks — including Universal Studios and Sea World — are also putting plans in place to reopen safely. As of right now, there's no word on when any of the popular Florida based theme parks will fully reopen.
