Universal Studio's Japan and Florida Set Their Reopening Dates

After a three month shut down Universal Studios Japan will reopen to annual ticket holders residing in the Osaka Prefecture on June 8th, according to Kyodo News. Universal Studios Japan LLC will gradually list restrictions to allow the general Osaka Prefecture populace to visit the popular park on June 15th. After that, people residing in the Kinki region — including Kyoto, Hyogo, Nara, Wakayama, and Shiga, will be allowed to visit the park on June 19th — when travel restrictions from other prefectures have been lifted.

This is exciting news for theme park enthusiasts in Japan. Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea does not yet have an opening date. Oriental Land Co., which runs both of the Japanese Disney parks, is extending the closure so visitors from other regions will not visit. The extended closure is also a way to stop the spread of COVID-19. Tokyo Disneyland, DisneySea, and Universal Japan closed their parks on February 29th in response to the worldwide pandemic.

In America, Universal Studios Florida, will reopen to the public on June 5th. Select Universal Florida hotels — the Hard Rock Hotel at Universal Florida, Loews Royal Pacific Resort, Loews Sapphire Falls Resort, Universal's Cabana Bay Beach Resort, Universal's Aventura Hotel, and Universal's Endless Summer Resort — will be reopening to guests on June 2nd. Guests who are staying inside these hotels will be able to visit Universal Studios, Universal's Island of Adventure, and Universal's Volcano Bay on June 3rd and 4th. Guests visiting the resort will be required to wear face masks, and temperature screenings will take place for all guests and employees. Social distancing will be encouraged, as well.

Universal Florida opened CityWalk, a popular shopping and dining destination, earlier this month. Universal Florida and Japan have both beaten Disney to the punch with their reopenings, but there's still no word on Universal Hollywood and Disneyland in Anaheim, California.

Will you be visiting Universal when they reopen? Let us know in the comments below!
