Last week Kodansha's Morning magazine began its serialization on wine-based manga, The Drops Of God's final storyline, by creators Tadashi Agi and Shū Okimoto.
The first chapter? Focusing on wine that pairs well with salt-fermented squid, part of the final storyline about wine's relationship to food.
The comic book has done well to boost the sales of[...]

What all of the judges stressed, however, was to just have fun with it; whether you win or lose, you should do so with grace.
The final panel of the day for me was one that I had been particularly excited about – Understanding Manga In this session, panel leaders detailed some of the key elements[...]
Adapted from, apparently, a cult novel by Bradley Bond and Philip Ninj@ Morzez that was originally serialised on Twitter that spawned at least two manga series, Studio Trigger seems fully aware of the social media and meme-friendly aspects of the series and plays it to the hilt, revelling in the series' cheesy lines and gif-worthy[...]
Well, Dark Horse Comics may have been listening.

Did anyone else get a bit of deja vu reading the All-New All-Different Avengers comic for Free Comic Book Day? Specifically the preview for Max Ride:
Adi Tantimedh writes,
Viz Media has published the original manga adaptation of The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past that was originally serialised in Nintendo Power back in the 1990s To me, the most notable thing about it is that it's written and drawn by Shotaro Ishonomori, one of the masters of comics and[...]

Adi Tantimedh writes,
Yen Press has been nice enough to send us comp copies of their Spring books, and since their manga are covered amply by the anime press, I thought I'd give a rundown of the light novels Light novels are prose series that are, in effect, Young Adult genre novels They've been increasingly popular[...]
It takes place during the 2070s, and focuses on the crisis-level amounts of space debris affecting interplanetary travel.
Planetes editor Brendan Wright spoke about the series by saying,
Planetes is one of the series that made me a manga fan, at once startlingly realistic in its scientific detail, moving in its relatable human drama, and hilarious in[...]
It's unique among both manga and zombie stories in its lone and increasing weirdness Hideo Suzuki is a struggling manga artist prone to hallucinations of spooky people lurking in the corner of his eye or in his walls Hideo tries to keep himself sane by seeing himself as a manga hero despite being a slightly[...]

Paul Gravett reports,
The news came through to me in a short email yesterday, March 7th 2015: "Sensei passed away today." Yoshihiro Tatsumi is the 'sensei' or grand master of 'gekiga', a term he coined for the darker, more dramatic form of manga in Japan His innovations were vitally important for Japanese comics and his lifetime's[...]

It's so heartfelt it's easy to forgive its melodramatic "damaged boy redeemed by dying girl" plot. It's one of the most intense examinations of music as art as personal expression and life struggle.
There's an amazing line where the famous piano teacher, who was his mother's best friend, watches him heal from the death of his mother[...]

While I haven't head the pleasure of reading or watching this myself, I continue to hear more and more about Attack on Titan! This popular Japanese manga series has been incredibly successful and continues to grow a large fandom The story is set in a world where humanity lives in a city protected from Titans,[...]
The creator Shotaro Ishinomori who died in 1998 may be better known for Cyborg 009 and Kamen Rider but he also held the Guinness World Record for the "most comics published by one author" and there is a Ishinomori Manga Museum in Japan dedicated to his works.. The book currently sells from $70-$125 online.
But possibly not for long.

For the most immediate WIPs, I am working on Tomie and Ludwig Kakumei; I read these two mangas a while ago and I have always really loved them so I decided that it is time to embody my favorite manga characters.

While the quirks and nuances of the original manga and anime were Japanese, the main themes and philosophical ideas – about whether an increasingly digital world might erode one's humanity, and the heroine's existential crisis over whether she's truly human anymore – are fairly universal The main plot of a elite cybercrime unit in the[...]
Though I have not read the manga, I ate up the show very quickly through Netflix Yes, it has some of that token over-the-topness that has been associated with anime, but goddamn if the show is not satisfying The characterization is great, the animation stellar and if you don't find the Titans a little creepy,[...]
Adi Tantimedh writes,
So Viz Media sent me an advance copy of the first volume of Master Keaton, one of Naoki Urusawa's hit manga series from the 1980s before he became a much bigger deal with series like Monster, 20th Century Boys and Billy Bat later.
Master Keaton is an adventure series from a less complicated time[...]

They may be happy dreading that way for manga, but reading Marvel superheroes seems to force people to read left to right Such as Hulk's monologues…
