Doctor Who: Russell T. Davies Pens Sequel The Secret of Novice Hame

It's hard to believe it but we've actually come to the penultimate global rewatch of Doctor Who Lockdown's amazing run, and much of that has to do with the hard work and dedication of Doctor Who Magazine writer and BBC Radio editor Emily Cook. On Saturday, Cook was joined by showrunner/writer Russell T. Davies as well as directors James Hawes and Richard Clark, and actress Anna Hope (Novice Hame) as they offered their thoughts and perspectives on the double-episode billing of the Tenth Doctor's (David Tennant) "New Earth" and "Gridlock."

But as has been customary with these global community get-togethers, viewers were treated to something a little "extra" to add to the story. Immediately following the final tweet, the Davies-penned audio drama sequel "The Secret of Novice Hame" was released to tell a final tale of Novice Hame on the last day of her life, as she has one final, terrible secret to reveal to someone in particular. Hope returned to voice the role she made famous, with music by Murray Gold. The video was illustrated by JuanMao, with video editing by James Barnett and audio editing by Cook (who also produced). The video was also produced to support The Film and TV Charity's COVID-19 Emergency Relief Fund, to aid the creative community impacted by the Coronavirus pandemic. Heading back to more current times, Mandip Gill confirmed to RadioTimes.com earlier this month that holiday special "Revolution of the Daleks" was filmed at the end of Series 12 production, meaning that shouldn't be a delay in its seasonal airing. That gives the episode a major advantage over series that film their holiday specials the summer before, making the Doctor Who special even more of an "event" for fans, as Gill explains: "So yeah, Doctor Who's special is something to really look forward to this year –especially considering the amazing series we've just had as well."
