"Game of Thrones" Fans Can Play with Their Whisky This Holiday Season [Nerd Food]

Johnnie Walker Whisky is giving one last gift to Game of Thrones fans. A Song of Ice and A Song of Fire whisky bottles (check out Bleeding Cool's review here) can now come to life on your phone, thanks to AR technology! Depending on which bottle you have, a steely-eyed direwolf or a fire-breathing dragon will come to life before your eyes. Fans can access the AR on Johnnie Walker's Game of Thrones site – here's what you need to know:

Fans of the show and the world's No.1 Scotch whisky* can access the AR at www.got.johnniewalker.com or scan a QR code in store and point their phone at their limited edition bottle to see a scene play out featuring one of the mythical creatures. As the AR launches, fans will be transported into an alternate reality immersing themselves in the Game of Thrones world as they see their direwolf or dragon fearlessly guarding their territory. Users will have the option of snapshotting and downloading part of the scene, which they can then share on social with family and friends.

As someone who gets a kick out of nerdy food, I'm excited for this. This is the perfect gift for the Game of Thrones fan in your life — even if that fan is you!

You can find Johnnie Walker's A Song of Ice and A Song of Fire wherever fine whiskies are sold.

This creative technology is a really great way to build on the success of our relationship with one of the greatest TV shows of all time by adding in an additional layer of excitement for fans. And we are confident that fans of these two cultural trailblazers – Johnnie Walker and Game of Thrones – will love having the chance to see what it's like to keep their very own mythical creature at home, without needing the outside space previously thought necessary!"
